Think Exponentially:  What is Cybersecurity in the Era of AI?

Two years ago, everyone was talking about Zero Trust. The RSA conference was packed with Zero Trust messaging. What did we see this year? It was all about AI, day and night.

Was Zero Trust a fad? Of course not. Zero Trust is the foundational security framework for Generative AI (GenAI). However, if Zero Trust had been adopted at the same rapid rate as GenAI, enterprises would be better prepared to secure GenAI systems. We would have a better understanding of who and what influences our environment, interacts with our data, or makes subtle changes that could indicate infiltration and corruption. Unfortunately, Zero Trust has not reached this level of implementation, leaving organizations vulnerable as GenAI continues to advance exponentially.

Wipro has partnered with Microsoft to explore the disparities in the adoption rates of GenAI and Zero Trust. This analysis will help develop a strategic framework to synchronize adoption strategies. We will explore what cybersecurity means in the Era of AI.Readers may be surprised that we will not be focusing on technology alone.

We contend that the linear tech selection and adoption processes established 10-15 years ago don’t work well in the exponential world of AI where change comes rapidly. The transformative impacts of GenAI require a shift in our security paradigms. Traditional security methods have proven to be a barrier to full Zero Trust implementation. Relying on these processes to protect against evolving threats posed by GenAI is a critical risk for organizations. We will analyze the factors that are enabling the rapid adoption of GenAI and draw comparisons with the issues that have hindered Zero Trust implementation. Our objective is to understand why these initiatives yielded such different outcomes, pinpoint the underlying causes, and propose a novel approach to better secure GenAI technologies.

Over the coming weeks, we will discuss the most salient topics in cybersecurity and GenAI, including a close look at Microsoft Copilot, AI and identity management, and Secure AI readiness.

We will present use cases in one of the most vulnerable verticals —healthcare. The campaign will be multi-modal, including blog posts, an eBook, and a webinar on how to rethink Zero Trust in this era, citing customer scenarios. To learn more, please contact us.
