Edgile CEO Don Elledge Appointed To Forbes Technology Council

Leader in enterprise cybersecurity and corporate risk joins invitation-only community for global business leaders

AUSTIN, Texas, November 1, 2017 — Edgile, the leading cyber risk and regulatory compliance firm providing cloud and on-premises security solutions to the Fortune 500, today announced that Edgile CEO, Don Elledge, has been selected to join the Forbes Technology Council, an invitation-only community for CEOs, CIOs, CTOs and technology executives. Elledge joins a host of global business leaders providing thoughts and insights to the global business community on the current and future impact of technology across a broad range of sectors, and will be featured in an ongoing column for Forbes.

“I am honored to join the Forbes community of executive thought leaders who dedicate their time and insights to solving the problems that most affect organizations around the world,” said Elledge.

In his first column, Elledge examined one of the most serious challenges that businesses everywhere are facing: according to a Bloomberg report, data breaches increased at a rate of more than 40 percent from 2015 to 2016. But in response (according to a survey commissioned by Gartner), businesses are increasing their cybersecurity budgets only at an annual rate of 18 percent. The question is not just whether organizations are  investing enough, but also whether they are not making the optimal investment choices.

“This underscores the importance of looking at how investments in cybersecurity are evaluated and made,” said Elledge. “Given Edgile’s position as trusted advisor to many of the world’s leading companies, my focus will be on providing insights into how the technology landscape is transforming business and how security professionals need to think differently about cybersecurity in order manage risk in the digital age.”

In future columns, Elledge will explore new business models for managing cybersecurity. For example, in his second column, he discusses how the cloud might actually help businesses reduce their exposure to risk, contrary to popular opinion and bias.

“We are honored to welcome a recognized security industry leader like Don Elledge into our community,” said Scott Gerber, founder of Forbes Councils. “Our mission with Forbes Councils is to curate successful professionals from every industry, creating a vetted, social capital-driven network that helps every member make an even greater impact on the business world.”
